Chad Stahelski, director of John Wick, is currently working to bring Ghost of Tsushima to the big screen. The creative recently revealed that he will take elements of the franchise starring Keanu Reeves to successfully adapt the PlayStation and Sucker Punch game.
Previously, the filmmaker praised the work of the developers of Ghost of Tsushima, as he believes that the title has a great story and, above all, that it is visually delightful. So his goal is to match or even surpass the look of the game with his film adaptation.

The Ghost of Tsushima movie wants to look better than the game
In an interview with DiscussingFilm (via Eurogamer), Stahelski highlighted the visual aspect of John Wick, considering handling colors and composition one of his hallmarks for the popular action franchise. So he wants to take advantage of this to make the Ghost of Tsushima movie look amazing too.
“It’s already known from the John Wick movies that I love color and composition. To really try to not only live up to it but to surpass what the game has done with its visual effects is completely fascinating to me,” said the filmmaker.
He noted that he is currently working with his team to achieve his goal and expand the color palette for the game adaptation. Stahelski stressed that he will strive to present Jin Sakai’s story and the game world in a “realistic and grounded” way.
“Ghost of Tsushima has a really interesting narrative if you dive into Jin Sakai’s story and what the movie is really about. And you relate it to these incredible visual effects,” added the creative.
Previously, he stated that he will use technology that he has learned about thanks to the John Wick movies to bring Ghost of Tsushima to the cinema, as he believes that the game deserves an adaptation to match.
