Prices can vary considerably
The expense of money involved in obtaining the permit is quite high. It is true that this depends on and implies certain factors, since it is not the same to do it in Barcelona or Madrid, which are much larger and with a greater volume of vehicles, than to do it in smaller locations.
A budget that, as a general rule, includes tuition, practical and theoretical classes, traffic taxes, the psychotechnical exam and processing costs, although varying from the driving school the numbers can drop considerably or increase even more.
And it is that, for many, having the driving license type B o C can be an opportunity for many people to get a job, for example, and which will now be much more accessible thanks to the series of aid offered by the autonomous communities.
What is all we have
As we say, it is not only what we have with the driving license itself, but also what is a series of fees that are added to the amounts (they range from 1,200 euros in certain cases) that ultimately leaves us with an amount that not everyone can afford.
That is why it is possible to save when it comes to getting your driving license in some areas of Spainwhere there are subsidies and aid so that obtaining the permit is less serious for our pocket.
A specific case is that of Galicia which, although at the moment it has been closed since last October, has different subsidies of this type from time to time. It is so with a budget of 761,000 euros, 80% co-financed by the European Social Fund, offered grants for various types of permit:
Card B: 400 euros.
License C (truck): 650 euros.
D license (bus): 1.300 euros.
There are also autonomous communities such as La Rioja, although this is somewhat different, as it is more of a interest free loan for a maximum period of 36 months with which to “cushion” the impact of obtaining a driver’s license. Its requirements are as follows;
Be between 18 and 30 years old. Be registered for at least 5 years or be taking official studies in the community. Being the first time that you present yourself to obtain the card. Have the Youth Card.
Another option is to do it from locations such as the province of Valladolidwhich offers a program of you help women who want to obtain a driver’s license and reside in towns with fewer than 2,000 inhabitants. In this case, they will be able to obtain up to 700 euros to obtain the type B card.
There is also the government of cantabria, who last year allocated 100,000 euros to subsidize obtaining a driver’s license. The aid was directed to young people of 18 to 30 years and they were from 200 euros regardless of the type of card that is chosen. The 2022 call, which closed in the summer, subsidized all kinds of permits, from motorcycles to trailers.
Cheapest cities to get it
In this regard, on average, throughout Spain, the average price of obtaining a driver’s license is around 700 euros. This includes enrollment in the driving school, practical classes and the fees that must be paid in the exam. Although, as Facua’s own study points out, these prices vary enormously between the cities themselves, which is why these autonomous communities mentioned offer us this type of aid.
Likewise, it should be noted that there are locations such as Granada which is the cheapest in all of Spain to obtain it where, for just 430 euros we can get our driver’s license (yes, the price contemplates that we get everything the first time). There is also the Galician A Coruñawith a price of 500 euros, at the same level as badajoz. So these three should be your main options when going to another city to get your permit.
On the other hand, the most expensive is Murcia, where the average cost is 933 euros, that is, more than double that of Granada, as long as we pass the practical exam the first time. They are followed by Lleida (903.29 euros), Bilbao (880.26 euros) and Barcelona (872.61 euros).
