Late last year, Netflix confirmed a Gears of War movie and animated series. If you’re excited about these projects, you’ll be happy to know that the live-action film finally has a writer. This is Jon Spaihts, known for his work on Dune and Doctor Strange.
Netflix and The Coalition announced this signing with great fanfare, as they are convinced that the creative will do an excellent job adapting the iconic Xbox franchise. Likewise, Spaihts celebrated this opportunity, as he is very excited to bring the action of the saga to the cinema.

Jon Spaihts to Adapt Gears of War for Netflix Movie
Thanks to a report from Variety, we know that Spaihts is already working with Netflix and The Coalition to adapt Gears of War into a movie that fans will love. The creative knows the franchise and knows that its action and brutality are things that players want to see on the screen.
“Gears of War is one of the best action games of all time, with vivid characters, a beautifully designed world, and a combat system that drives home the lethality of war and the importance of supporting your squadmates. He wants to be cinema, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to help make that happen,” Spaihts said.
For its part, The Coalition affirmed that the Oscar-nominated creative is the one to adapt the saga, since he has great talent and, in addition, he is a fan of the franchise. So expect the best results and a great product for Gears of War lovers.
“We are thrilled to partner with Jon and the Netflix team to bring Gears of War to life. Jon is a master storyteller with a talent for creating epic sci-fi universes, and he really loves Gears of War. Unfortunately, no further details of the production as such were shared. So there’s no word on its cast, release date, or how far its narrative will span. However, it is good news to know that the adaptation is in good hands.
