TEL AVIV – Former Mossad Chief Tamir Pardo warned that Israel is facing an unprecedented danger.
“Israel has reached a very dangerous situation regarding the internal divisions that have occurred because of the right-wing plots to weaken the justice system and turn the country into a dictatorship,” Pardo told Channel 12, which was launched Saturday (11/3/2023).
Mossad is Israel’s intelligence service for operations abroad. The current head of Mossad is David Barnea.
“I am 70 years old. I never imagined that we would reach this point. This is the most real danger since independence,” he said.
The former intelligence boss said; “Israel does not need a nuclear bomb to destroy… our country has decided to undergo self-destruction.”
Pardo even describes the method of self-destruction as far more dangerous than external threats.
“Everyone is following closely what is happening with Washington, Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas, while this threat is absent. What is happening sends a message of weakness to the world,” he said.
Pardo then condemned the attempted judicial overhaul initiated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
“Repealing the law and turning judicial authority into a game in the hands of the ruling party means tearing up the independence document,” he said.
