The cumbia singer Rodolfo Olivares, better known as Fito Olivares, He passed away at the age of 75 from cancer. This was reported on social networks, where colleagues have expressed their condolences for the loss of the composer of the famous song “Juana la Cubana”.
Originally from Camargo, Tamaulipas, Fito Olivares premiered “Juana la cubana” in 1988, which led him to be nominated at the Lo Nuestro Awards; the song “Cholesterol” made them worthy in 1996 of the ASCAP Award for the Best Song in the category of Regional Mexican Music.
With his group La pura sabrosura, he brightened up the stages with songs like “La Gallina” and “El Colesterol”.
His colleague Ramón Ayala expressed his sorrow for the death of his friend: “It is with deep regret that I learn of your departure, my dear colleague, but above all my great friend Fito Olivares El Rey de la Cumbia. Thank you for your music, your delivery and professionalism on stage.
