In the last budget law, the government had – fortunately – halted the two-year increase in fines linked to inflation: the penalties would have risen by more than 10%. But some tweaks to notification fees can always be done. Already in June 2022 these had gone from 9.5 to 10.15 euros (+7%).
From next March 27ththe Communications Authorityi authorized a raise for the Communication of Successful Notification (Can) and the Communication of Successful Deposit (Cad) which will weigh an additional 30 cents on the green envelopes announcing the arrival of the fines, approaching 10.5 euros only for delivery, with an increase of over 9% in less than a year. Basically, on a 41 euro parking ban, the minimum fine, you pay a “surcharge” of 20.3%.
All this, when fines could easily be delivered through the certified mail or those tools that, like it or not, we have learned to use in times of pandemic, such as the IO app. The expensive paper notification could be reserved exclusively for those who do not respond to the first communication.
