The wishes
Marieke and Geert would like to have a cozy playroom for the kids where they can play, chill, game and where there is also storage space! Their son Wess would like to play on his computer and for daughter Jackie it is important to be busy with the dolls.
Dog Jada also likes to sleep between the playing children, so a place for Jada is also indispensable! It is also important that the fridge and freezer stay here and are given a convenient place. Marieke and Geert like warm and calm colors in combination with modern elements, but it must above all be an attractive and cozy play area.
The design
Handyman queen Martine Beijer and interior stylist Floortje van Cooten have come up with a great plan for the new children’s playroom. To fully meet the wishes of Marieke and Geert, it was decided to build a large multifunctional cabinet.
In terms of style and color palette, Floortje and Martine go for warm colors, in combination with beautiful cloud wallpaper as a statement of the room. Martine makes the cabinet completely child-friendly and pays attention to safety. Floortje goes DIY again and makes a beautiful hippie pouf and a cozy corner for the dog Jada, with pin boards on the wall where nice pictures can be hung. A nice place for the television has also been taken into account, so that Wess can enjoy gaming!
Giant storage cupboard
Martine has built a great cupboard where Marieke and Geert can store all their belongings. In addition, the left side of the cupboard serves as a play corner for the children, with a cool ‘attic floor’ on top where the children can relax!
The cabinet is made of MDF and is made extra child-friendly by sanding off all sharp edges. The storage area gets a cool blue color and the play corner as a counterpart a soft pink shade.
Homemade hippie pouf
Floortje has made a great ottoman for the playroom out of different rugs. By sewing these fabrics together with glitter rope, they get an extra playful effect. By choosing a filling of flakes, the chill cushion has become extra soft.
Multifunctional play corner
Under the play attic where you can relax, Martine has made a desk, so that you can also do some crafting. A multifunctional play corner! You can easily climb up via the stairs on the side.
Martine has attached a safety net to the front of the playroom for safety. Very nice, of course, and it also looks very nice!
Cheering children and happy faces
Marieke, Geert, Wess and Jackie can’t believe what they see! Jackie and Wess immediately climb to the cozy playroom and Marieke and Geert are amazed. They are very happy with the beautiful cupboard, the play corner and the crazy interior of Floortje. “All things can be put in it, very nice,” says Marieke about the storage cabinet. “This is exactly what we hoped to see!”
