Big releases are still waiting for us in the coming months of 2023, but there is no doubt that Final Fantasy XVI represents one of the most anticipated. The new installment of Square Enix’s JRPG saga will arrive on PS5 on June 22.
In fact, our colleague Álvaro Alonso already tells us that we are facing one of the great games of the year. You can know our impressions of this huge role-playing game for PS5.
The best possible news is that Final Fantasy 16 is a return to the roots of the series. Not so much because of its combat style (although it is based on a classic from the saga), but because of its theme.

Final Fantasy XVI Impressions
We leave behind the futuristic touches of Final Fantasy VII Remake or Final Fantasy XV to return to medieval fantasy. And watch out, because in this installment there will be more violence and sex than ever before (Game of Thrones is one of his inspirations). Unfortunately there will be no dubbing into Spanish, yes.
At the presentation event that we were able to attend, it was confirmed that Final Fantasy XVI will be exclusive to PS5 for six months. The PC version will come later.which has no launch window.
There will be no delays for Final Fantasy 16
We all know Naoki Yoshida, the iconic producer of the Square Enix role-playing saga. He is always an honest guy, who can also resort to humor if the situation requires it.
At the presentation event, Yoshida spoke about the zero possibility of Final Fantasy XVI being delayed. We can be calm, because the game will arrive on PS5 on June 22 yes or yes.
Although, in reality, there is an exception. Naoki Yoshida confirms that they will not delay the game… unless a meteorite falls in japan. Of course it is a joke.
It is a good thermometer to see what state Final Fantasy XVI is in. With the new installment, Square Enix has decided to be cautious and wait for the right moment to announce the exact release date.
”I know that Final Fantasy games can be delayed until the last minute. But, unless a meteorite falls in Japan, there will be no delay,” Yoshida said at the event.
Naoki-P’s statements are actually a reference to two cases remembered by Final Fantasy fans. It would not be the first time that Square Enix has delayed an installment of the series within weeks of its release.
Analysis of the Inzone M3, the new Sony monitor more focused on the PC than on the PS5
For example, in 2016 the release of Final Fantasy XV was delayed just six weeks from its arrival in stores. The same thing happened with Final Fantasy 7 Remake in early 2020.
Final Fantasy XVI has everything to become one of the GOTY of the year (although it won’t be easy, because the competition is fierce). Its launch will take place on June 22nd on PS5, while the PC version won’t arrive until the end of this year at least.
