The president of the FIFA, Gianni Infantino confirmed that the organization is working on its own FIFA-branded game. The announcement comes in response to the fact that 2023 will mark EA leaving behind the FIFA brand for its soccer games, instead releasing future games in the franchise like EA Sports FC.
According to Martyn Ziegler, chief sports reporter for The Times, FIFA made the decision because EA refused to pay the company a higher fee for its brand. Previous reports have indicated that FIFA was demanding $2.5 million from EA every four years for use of the license.
“The new FIFA game, FIFA 25, 26, 27, etc., will always be the best electronic game for any girl or boy,” said Infantino, “we will have news about this very soon.”
In May 2022, FIFA had announced that it would work with other developers and publishers to release new FIFA games in response to EA’s announcement that its line of soccer games would be called EA Sports FC starting in 2023.
