FC Volendam distanced itself from FC Emmen in the final phase for its own audience. The substitute Bilal Ould-Chikh gave the home team the lead in the 88th minute, after which Daryl van Mieghem determined the final score (3-1) in stoppage time.
FC Volendam equaled Vitesse, the number 13 in the ranking, with their sixth league win of the season. Emmen is provisionally sixteenth in the ranking after six league games in a row without a win.
The opening phase of the game was for Volendam. But Van Mieghem and Henk Veerman encountered goalkeeper Mickey van der Hart. Emmen was also close to the opening goal twice before the break. Mark Diemers shot on the post and Mike te Wierik saw his header deflected by Filip Stankovic, Volendam’s keeper.
Stankovic was unable to prevent his team from falling behind again in the 46th minute. He first saw his defender Xavier Mbuyamba go wrong. Ole Romeny seemed to score, but hit the post. Stankovic then fumbled the ball into his own goal.
Benaissa Benamar scored the equalizer in the 67th minute (1-1). He headed in after a cross from Van Mieghem (1-1). Both teams seemed to be on their way to a draw, until Ould-Chikh crowned a nice action with an effective shot. Van Mieghem then decided the game definitively.
