FC Groningen feels robbed in De Kuip. The team of trainer Dennis van der Ree had to continue with ten men in the away match against Feyenoord shortly after the break after defender Isak Määttä had received his second yellow card from referee Joey Kooij. The Norwegian shot the ball against Alireza Jahanbakhsh, who was lying on the ground, and Kooij thought that was reason to draw a yellow card.
“I think this was a normal duel,” said Van der Ree. “Jahanbakhsh fell and Isak tried to get a throw-in through him. He then received his second yellow card and therefore a red card. However, I did not hear that the whistle had already been blown at that time, the game continued as usual. The linesman also flagged just for a throw-in. Do I feel robbed? Quite yes. Feyenoord got the game thrown into their lap by that red card. That’s why I’m pretty annoyed. We put up a decent game against the leader, I’m proud of the squad.”
FC Groningen also held out with ten men for a long time, but still went down in the final phase due to a somewhat fortunate goal from Oussama Idrissi: 1-0.
