Evi’s mother was told in 2021 that she was terminally ill. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, with metastases in her liver and bones. A heartbreaking phase started, but Evi also spoke of a ‘privileged position’. “Every child has to hand over his mom at a certain moment and not the other way around. And what also helps is that mom has reconciled herself with death,” she told the Flemish Story at the time.
Evi and Kurt tied the knot last summer. At that time, the presenter and production designer had been together for four years.
