MODENA – Also in Modena from Tuesday 21 March a ban on cigarettes will come into force in some public places, such as in children’s play areas in parks and public gardens, in areas adjacent to childcare services, crèches and play centres, but also near the entrances of public offices, schools, universities, public transport stops and cemeteries.
To provide for the stop to smoking (which also concerns electronic cigarettes in the cases identified by law) is the ordinance signed by the mayor Gian Carlo Muzzarelli, with which the Emilian city aligns itself with other centers in Italy and abroad. Anyone who does not comply with the ban will face a fine ranging from a minimum of 25 to a maximum of 500 euros. As the Municipality of Modena explains in a note, the ban on cigarettes stems from a request from the city council which at the beginning of last year had unanimously voted on an agenda in this regard.
