BRUSSELS, 02 MAR – “We are on the verge of seeing a grand coalition between EU countries on joint procurement to supply munitions to Ukraine: this is a profound change of approach and will also have important consequences on common European defence”. This was stated by a senior EU official who is closely following the negotiations. “On ammunition it will be a matter of days or weeks, not months,” he specified. As many as 26 out of 27 member states (only Denmark is missing) agree to use the European Defense Agency (EDA) to “aggregate demand” and increase the production of ammunition, so as to replenish European warehouses “with European products”.
