England will miss the European Championship qualifier at home against Ukraine’s Phil Foden on Sunday evening. The 22-year-old Manchester City attacker has undergone an operation on the appendix, the English Football Association FA reported.
National coach Gareth Southgate decided not to call up a replacement. His selection therefore still consists of twenty players after Reece James dropped out with a knee injury and Luke Shaw has to serve a suspension. Foden came on Thursday evening during the 2-1 win in Naples against Italy. He then came on after 69 minutes in place of Jack Grealish.
The game with Ukraine starts at 6 p.m. and is played at Wembley.
