This Wednesday, March 22, the 23rd delivery of the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony was held, in which different categories of video games and developers were awarded. The ceremony was held at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, and of the multiple games that participated, the stars at the award ceremony were Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok.
Elden Ring took the top prize awarded by the experts at the ceremony as game of the year, in addition to obtaining the titles of Best Visual Art and Best Design. On the other hand, God of War Ragnarök was not far behind in the awards thanks to the popular vote and won in three categories: the Audience Award for best gameBetter sound and Better technology.
The other categories were contested between the rest of the participating games and designers, and had the following winners:
• Mejor debut: Stray (BlueTwelve Studio/ Annapurna Interactive )
• Mejor Narrativa: Pentiment ( Obsidian Entertainment / Xbox Game Studios)
• Impacto social: Citizen Sleeper (Jump Over The Age/Fellow Traveller)
• Innovación: Immortality (Half Mermaid Productions)
• Lifetime Achievement: John Romero
• Pioneer: Mabel Addis
It’s important to mention that the last two awards are part of special categories given out at the Game Developers Choice Awards: John Romero received the Lifetime Achievement award based on his contributions to the classic games Doom, Quake and Wolfestein. On the other hand, the Pioneer award was awarded posthumously to Mabel Addis, considered the first female video game designer for his 1964 work, The Summerian Game.
