The Electronic Arts company and the developer DICE announced that as of April 28 there will be four games that will be released from the catalogs of virtual stores: Battlefield 1943, Battlefield Bad Company 1 y 2, y Mirror’s Edge. This decision was made to prepare for the closure of its servers in advance, which will occur on December 8 of this year.
This means that from April 28 None of these four games can be officially purchased in console or computer stores, which will prevent the appearance of new players in these games. However, those who have the purchased titles will be able to continue playing them after this date, and from December 8 they will only be able to use the offline options.
This decision was made mainly due to the number of active players, which is miniscule to keep the servers safe: the SteamDB site shows that Battlefield Bad Company 2 barely average 130 players playing regularly, while in Mirror’s Edge, a game considered cult by gamers and speedrunners, barely average 101 players.
At the time of publishing this article, there are only 112 players in Battlefield Bad Company 2.
Those interested in obtaining a digital copy of these games officially before they are removed from the platforms forever will have until April 28 to obtain them, and in the case of Mirror’s Edge, you find yourself with a 75% discount on Steam and EA sites.
