Margarita, a diva of Colombian melodramas, immerses herself in a new audience, children, surrounded by science fiction and a great cast. “For me it is still unknown (the audience’s response) because this particular series had to have a different tone than what I’ve done before. So, for me it meant learning to be able to follow the flow of this string of boys, who were the ones who were leading the tone and rhythm of the series, so for me it was a process of getting to the level of the boys, but unforgettable, the best thing that has happened to me on a professional and personal level as well.
“Pola” is an adventurous, strong and determined woman who goes beyond the established canons, she is an unusual grandmother, regarding this approach that her character has, Margarita responds to EL INFORMADOR: “For me as ‘Pola’ I found it wonderful and refreshing to make a grandmother with such peculiar characteristics. She is a woman who is very complicit in her grandchildren, with a young mind and an intrepid attitude, that seemed wonderful to me. It caught my attention that grandfather does not exist, what exists is grandmother, this already grown lady leading a path and committed to the health of the planet”.
He highlights that something that he finds “impressive” about “Pola” is also the treatment he gives to children, whom he actually sees as adult and responsible people.

Sebastián and Camila, two of the little ones in this series who are siblings in the plot, are now older, entering adolescence, so seeing this story today fills them with a lot of emotion. “We recorded the series in 2021, in two years in which I gave a growth spurt and Cami also grew (the special effects were made). It is a production the size of Hollywood and what better than represented in Mexico; some special effects were sent to India, In addition, about how they played with history, it is digestible for the new generations who want to continue reading Jules Verne”, said Sebastián, while Camila confessed: “It was a gift to have recorded ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’, we all had fun a lot and it was amazing.”
Yankel, who plays the older brother of Sebastián (“Diego”) and Camila (“Violeta”), shared the experience of working with child actors. “FHow wonderful, more than going to work it was going to learn, every day we recorded with them they gave us a new lesson, they came to record with a smile after shooting 14 or 15 hours, it was unreal that they still had this energy to continue creating. This was a project that taught me a lot, it’s the first time I’ve worked with children and I ended up learning more myself than they did, it was incredible”.
Finally, Fernando Semenzato spoke about the challenges of creating a story like this. “The challenge, it seems to me, was not to disappoint the reader of Jules Verne. Because when you read, you imagine certain things and this series had to overcome that imagination that each of us had when we read the book. We made an adaptation to a new target, a new generation where we proposed not only a spin-off totally different adding boys, ‘Pompilio’, grandmother and Verne himself, also adding touched and sensitive topics such as the environment, friendship and family”.
