Her stepdaughter’s birthday cake “isn’t healthy” and “risks making her fat”, so a 34-year-old woman ended up at the center of a huge social controversy after wondering if she was wrong for trying to explain to the little girl Gwen the importance of making “informed choices” when it comes to nutrition. The stepmother said that the biological mother of the girl – as well as her main guardian of her – of her does not put any stake on “junk” food.
The woman insisted that Gwen eat a “low-fat ice cream” instead of the birthday cake to compensate for the incorrect diet she would have when she is with her mother: “The health of the child makes me sad, so I try to teach Gwen to eat healthy and move on our weekends with her”. The little girl spends one weekend every two with her stepmother, father and two half-brothers.
“We are a healthy family and teach moderation and control of how much we take when we have treats,” Lara wrote on Reddit. “However – she adds – Gwen is only here two weekends a month and her mother has the exact opposite attitude. In all honesty, that woman’s blood type is probably ketchup.” According to the stepmother, the girl “weighs about 9 kg more than a six-year-old girl should weigh”.
Upon learning of the story, Gwen’s mother went into a rage, stating that the little girl cried because she really wanted a cake, but did not want to make a choice judged “bad” by her stepmother. The 34-year-old replied: “I’m just taking care of a little girl in my care.”
