Van Gerwen had previously settled 6-0 with Englishman Nathan Aspinall in the semi-final, but was not involved against Price. The Welshman threw very strong and broke the leg that Van Gerwen started three times in a row. Van Gerwen only managed to win a leg at 5-0, but he could not prevent the victory of ‘The Iceman’, who averaged almost 115 with three arrows.
