Darter Michael van Gerwen has reached the semi-finals in the Premier League for the fourth week in a row. The 33-year-old from Brabant was too strong for the Scot Peter Wright in the eighth round in Newcastle upon Tyne 6-5 in the first round.
Van Gerwen started well and took a 2-0 lead. But the Scot came back to 4-4. ‘Mighty Mike’ then failed to finish the game at 5-4. He missed some darts on 56 and saw Wright level again. In the decisive leg that Wright was allowed to start, Van Gerwen still threw 150 with double 15.
In the semi-finals he will meet the winner of the match between the English darts player Nathan Aspinall and the Belgian Dimitri Van den Bergh.
