The latest documents filed by the prosecutors: here are the messages between Morganti, Cherubini and Gabasio in which Portuguese and the second salary maneuver are discussed. Preliminary hearing on Monday
While awaiting Monday’s preliminary hearing, the Prisma investigation conducted by the Turin prosecutor’s office into Juventus’ accounts is enriched with a new episode on the now famous “Ronaldo card” and on the second salary maneuver, the one relating to the 2020-21 season. Indeed, within the supplementary deeds filed by the magistrates on Tuesday, a chat emerges between the Juventus managers (Morganti, Cherubini and the lawyer Gabasio) focused on the maneuver and in particular on the Portuguese champion.
PROCUREMENT
—
On April 20, 2021, the then Chief Legal Officer Gabasio wrote: “The first ready to sign is Cristiano”. Three days later, on April 23, 2021, sports secretary Morganti sends two messages in the group with Gabasio and Cherubini. The first at 13.42: “Cristiano has signed”. And a minute later (1.43pm), Morganti still adds: “he has a copy of all the documents”. The conversation was concluded at 13.44 by sporting director Cherubini: “Good!”.
EVALUATIONS
—
The prosecutor’s suspicion is that reference is made to the supplementary agreement for CR7 in the second salary maneuver, the famous “Ronaldo card”, found however not filled out by the player in the Turin offices of the lawyer Restano. The Portuguese’s lawyers have always denied that the champion has signed and keeps a copy of this agreement, but that he only limited himself to signing the forms concerning the waiver of four months’ salaries, with the promise to recover them spread over the following seasons. However, CR7 has not yet received what he believes he is due from Juventus, i.e. 19.9 million euros. It should be remembered that Ronaldo – through his Italian lawyers – has requested and obtained a copy of the proceedings in recent months.
THE LETTER CR7
—
But how is the “Ronaldo card” made up? In reality, both for Portuguese and for other players, these are three different scripts. 1) An accompanying letter with which the company undertook to give the supplementary bonus by 07/31/2022; 2) The Supplementary Bonus Agreement, a bonus for 2021-22 and 2022-23 conditional on staying at the club; 3) Supplementary writing, a bonus also provided in the event of a farewell in the form of an incentive to leave. The latter (point 3) has become the case of Cristiano Ronaldo who in the last days of August 2021 moved to Manchester United.
COUNTDOWN
—
The prosecutors of Turin, at least so far, have not yet managed to hear CR7 on paper, on the salary maneuver and on the 19.9 million euros in arrears. It is not excluded a priori that it could happen in the future. Meanwhile, the countdown to the preliminary hearing enters the hottest phase. On Monday the magistrates Marco Gianoglio and Mario Bendoni – not Ciro Santoriello, who took a step back to safeguard the investigation from any kind of exploitation after the media chaos generated by a 2019 video of his in which he declared his hatred for Juve – they will find themselves in front of the investigating judge Marco Picco together with Juventus and the other 12 suspects for whom a request for indictment has been made. From former president Andrea Agnelli to Pavel Nedved, from Maurizio Arrivabene to Fabio Paratici… The accusations made by the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office range from false corporate communications to obstruction of supervision, from insider trading to false invoicing.
