In the late 1990s, Crash Bandicoot managed to establish himself as one of the most iconic and beloved platformers of the time. After many years of absence, he returned with a remake of the original trilogy and later with a fourth installment. It’s clear these projects excited nostalgic fans, but it seems the franchise is now looking to captivate a younger audience.
During The Game Awards 2022, Activision and Toys for Bob officially announced Crash Team Rumble, a new multiplayer title where 2 teams of 4 players will try to get the most Wumpa fruits in games that last between 4 and 5 minutes. Each available character will have their own special abilities and play style.
As expected, the announcement of this proposal divided the opinions of the community. Some old-time fans are willing to give it a shot, while others prefer a more traditional new installment. Apparently, the developers will try to reach a new generation of gamers with this project.

Crash Team Rumble aims to attract the attention of a new generation of players
At a special event (via GameRant), Creative Director Dan Neil and Associate Creative Director Lou Studdert discussed the approach to this new multiplayer offering. There, they announced that one of their goals is to create an attractive and accessible proposal for new users.
The creatives pointed out that the franchise “is super fun, colorful, crazy and absurd”, so they are very excited that Crash Team Rumble attracts new players. As they explain, they took into account the skill levels and ages of all players to design the core of the experience and make it fun for everyone.

“One of the big things for us is that when we were looking to develop this game, we did something with the map layout and the activities so that anyone could jump in and play. (Players) could focus on just collecting money and taking it to the bank,” Lou Studdert said.
Luckily, players won’t have to wait long to play Crash Team Rumble as it already has a release date. The best part? Very soon there will be a closed Beta that will give access to 3 maps and 5 playable characters.
