MOSCOW – Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow on Monday (20/3/2023) to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This will be his first overseas trip after he was re-elected by China’s National People’s Congress as the country’s leader for a third term of five years on March 10.
Xi Jinping will stay in Russia from March 20 to 22. Xi and Putin are expected to discuss the conflict in Ukraine among other topics of common interest.
The Chinese president said in articles for RIA Novosti and Rossiyskaya Gazeta that his trip to Russia was aimed at strengthening peace and friendship between the two countries.
He expressed his willingness to work on a new plan to develop bilateral relations together with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Chinese president emphasized that he is ready to stand with Russia to protect the UN-centered international system and the world order based on international law.
“China, together with Russia, is ready to resolutely uphold the UN-centered international system, uphold the world order based on international law and the basic norms of international relations based on the goals and principles of the UN Charter, adhering to the truth. multilateralism, promoting multipolarity in the world and democratization of international relations,” Xi said upon his arrival in Moscow.
