SuaraSumedang.id – During the fasting month of Ramadan, every Muslim is required to endure hunger and thirst, starting from the rising of dawn until the time of maghrib arrives.
Then during Ramadan fasting, you have to keep various objects from entering your body, one of which is brushing your teeth.
Of course there are several reasons why brushing your teeth is prohibited? This activity is one of the concerns that some Muslims can cause the fast to be broken.
Quoted from NU Online, Sheikh Muhammad Nawawi Al-Bantani in the book Nihayatuz Zain, explained that brushing your teeth is makruh during fasting time.

Meaning: “There are thirteen things that are makruh in fasting. One of them is siwak after noon,” (Nihayatuz Zein fi Irsyadil Mubtadi’in, Cetakan Al-Maarif, Bandung, Page 195).
As for other scholars, Imam Nawawi in his book Al-Mamu’ syarah al-Muhadzdzab conveyed that we must pay attention when brushing our teeth.
Especially if there are toothbrush bristles or toothpaste that is swallowed then it can break the fast even though it was unintentional.
Meaning: If someone uses a wet miswak. Then, the water is separated from the miswak that he uses, or the branches (hairs) of the wood are released and then swallowed, then his fast is invalidated without any difference of opinion among the scholars. Described by al-Faurani and others. (Abi Zakriya Muhyiddin bin Syaraf an-Nawawi, al-Majmu’, Maktabah al-Irsyad, Jeddah, juz 6, page 343).
