While on one side of the pitch Marko Arnautovic trains with intensity, vigour, smiles and two good goals (therefore for Arna), on the other there is Zirkzee who – a second before the end of this morning’s session – receives a cleat at left foot and is forced to go out with the field “cart”, then transported. Exams immediately but the feeling is that for Salerno the Dutchman won’t be available unless last-minute recoveries.

Today was also important for a long-awaited chat, in some ways decisive or at least useful for lowering a temperature which in any case had not reached the danger levels: in Casteldebole, in fact, Thiago Motta and Marko Arnautovic (reduced from two benches in a row, long faces and two bottles kicked angrily after zero minutes against Lazio) gave rise to a summit with the CEO. Claudio Fenucci, the technical manager Giovanni Sartori and the sporting director Marco Di Vaio: all to clarify each other, talk to each other, without drama or even preconceptions, those that Thiago Motta has never had given that up until the injury suffered on 4 January he had always employed Arnautovic as holder. The match took place in a serene manner, with the coach who asked Arna for that “more” (seen during this morning’s training session) and which remains the basis for conquering the pitch. If Arnautovic gives strong signals like those in the morning, regaining ownership (already in Salerno) will be easier. In the meantime, tomorrow it will be clear whether Orsolini (out with Lazio due to persistent abdominal discomfort) will be available for the Salerno match. At the moment he has a 50 percent chance of being there.
