According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wednesday star Jenna Ortega is in negotiations for a role in Beetlejuice 2 by Tim Burton. Michael Keaton will also reprise his role as Beetlejuice, while Jenna Ortega will play Lydia’s (Winona Ryder) daughter in the original 1988 film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources, they claim that production on the upcoming, long-delayed sequel is planned to begin in the summer of this year, between May and June with Tim Burton expected to direct and Michael Keaton set to return as the beetle-eater. However, Warner Bros. and Ortega’s representatives have not commented on the matter.
The intention to make a sequel to Beetlejuice practically comes from the premiere of the first. In 2014, Keaton admitted to having been in talks with Tim Burton, and the latter in 2017 stated that the sequel was closer than ever.
Wednesday and Jenna Ortega fans will be happy to know that she will be part of the cast of this long-awaited sequel.
