Suara.com – Member of Commission III DPR RI from the National Democratic Party (NasDem) faction, Ary Egahni Ben Bahat, was named by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as a suspect in the alleged corruption case along with her husband, Kapuas Regent Ben Brahim S Bahat. As soon as he was named a suspect, Ary was said to have immediately resigned from NasDem.
This was confirmed by the Deputy Secretary General of the NasDem Party, Hermawi Taslim. According to him, Ary had only conveyed his decision verbally.
“According to the integrity pact, the person concerned has verbally stated his resignation, a letter will follow,” said Hermawi when confirmed, Tuesday (28/3/2023).
Before declaring his resignation from the party led by Surya Paloh, Ary also immediately reported his suspect status.

“That’s right, the wife of the Kapuas regent, a member of the DPR RI from Nasdem. She has informed the party about her KPK status,” he said.

Ary Egahni passed as a member of the Indonesian Parliament from the electoral district of Central Kalimantan in 2019. After being elected, he was assigned to become a member of Commission III of the DPR RI.
After four years as a people’s representative, Ary Egahni was arrested by the KPK together with her husband. It is suspected that both of them took advantage of their positions as state administrators.
“When carrying out the task of carrying out actions including requesting, receiving or withholding payments to civil servants or to the general treasury,” said Head of KPK Reporting Section Ali Fikri in a written statement, Tuesday (28/3/2023).
“It’s as if they have a debt to the state officials, even though it is known that this is not a debt,” he continued.

Now the two suspects are already at the KPK’s Red and White Building, Jakarta and are still undergoing examination.
