The Ballerina movie will have its own personality to set itself apart from the other movies in the John Wick franchise.
Ana de Armas will star in Ballerina, a film that will also feature Keanu Reeves as John Wick, so it is easy to think that they will try to copy the formula for success of this saga. But in a recent interview with SR, stunt coordinator Stephen Dunlevy has revealed the big differences, especially in the type of action that will take place.
“You’re dealing with John Wick, with Keanu Reeves, that character. You’re dealing with sort of a grizzled older combat veteran. He has seen it all, he has done it all. So, he has a more refined style. Everything he does is because he has survived.
“With the character of Ana de Armas in Ballerina, what you’re looking at is a younger, newer assassin on the rise. She’s going to make mistakes and she’s going to learn. Part of what’s amazing about those characters is the ability to adapt to the environment and use weapons that are everyday objects and things like that.
“What they are going to see is their learning to adapt to their environment and their environments. And seeing, basically, where that training came from. John Wick has survived this long because of the training base they have, so you’re going to see her make mistakes, adapt and survive.”
Ana de Armas and Keanu Reeves in Ballerina
Without a doubt, it will be very interesting to check everything they have prepared.
What is the movie about?
Ana de Armas will play a young woman who seeks revenge for the death of her family, but what is interesting about the film Ballerina is that it will offer a new vision of the first days of a murderess in this cruel world, including the way they are trained and potentially how rookies are recruited.
Ballerina is the female spin-off of John Wick
Directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld, The Jungle 4.0 and Total Recall: Total Recall) it has a great cast headed by Ana de Armas, Lance Reddick, Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Norman Reedus, Gabriel Byrne, Anjelica Huston, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Anne Parillaud.
So, we can verify that the saga is more alive than ever, since John Wick 4 opens on March 24 and Ballerina will also arrive sometime in 2023. But in addition, they are preparing a series of El Continental, the famous hotel that it appears in all the movies and that it is a kind of safe place for all those who are part of this fascinating criminal world.
