Amazon has started displaying a warning on its devices Fire TV. This is nothing new and, in fact, for a few weeks the word has started to spread that Amazon has in mind to limit both the customization and the functionalities of these devices, although nothing is yet clear about it.
As we have mentioned, Amazon has begun to limit the use of third-party applications. Although before it was no longer easy to install any of these applications on Fire TV, now the situation has become much more complicated. In fact, this move by Amazon jeopardizes services like Kodi.
Not just Kodi on the Amazon Fire TV, also the free IPTV lists such as those offered by TDTChannels Player to be able to see all the DTT channels on your mobile device, television or tablet. What is Amazon doing? First of all, keep in mind that to install a third-party application on Fire TV you must have a specific option activated.
This option is called “Install from external sources” and to activate it you must have the developer options operational. The developer options are activated by clicking seven times on the section in which the name of the device is indicated. It is not a complicated process, but it is quite tedious.
Fire TVs face limitations imposed by Amazon
Despite the fact that Amazon seems to be determined to limit the use of its devices such as the Fire TV Stick or the Fire TV Stick Lite. Users show widespread discontent, and it doesn’t make much sense to limit the use of their devices once they have been purchased. Besides, security cannot be used as a reason for this.
And, it may seem logical from a security point of view to limit the installation of third-party applications on equipment such as the aforementioned Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Stick Lite, among others, but the reality is that users should be able to choose whether or not they want to install these apps.
Returning to the message, despite the fact that the warning seems too serious. The reality is that it is just a message that can be seen on any Android mobile device when installing a third-party application. It will only matter if Amazon decides to completely block the installation of these apps on their Amazon Fire TVs.
