WASHINGTON, 11 MAR – Former US vice president and environmental champion Al Gore has warned Joe Biden that it would be “irresponsible” to give the green light to a controversial mega drilling project in Alaska that the administration should authorize next Friday. The Guardian reports it. The billion-dollar project, to be built by the ConocoPhillips oil company, has also been criticized by many Democrats who fear it will drastically undermine the administration’s efforts to fight the climate crisis. For Al Gore the project “not only will put the natives of Alaska and other local communities at risk, but it is incompatible with the ambition to achieve the goal of zero emissions”. (HANDLE).
