Given the initiative that seeks to reform the Civil Aviation Law and the Airport Law to allow foreign airlines to carry out cabotage, that is, flights between two destinations in the national territoryVolaris spoke out against the unilateral transfer of participation in the Mexican market to airlines from other countries.
Given the possibility that the Mexican market will end up being opened to cabotage, Volaris demands equal opportunities.
“This translates into the need to have real and effective reciprocity to be able to carry out cabotage in those countries to which the airlines that want to do cabotage in Mexico belong,” the airline said in a statement.
Volaris demands a level floor
He also highlighted that Volaris was born competing and does so every day. The only thing he has ever demanded is that heThere is an even floor among all the participantsas well as clear and symmetrical rules in the various markets where it operates to avoid unfair competition and inequity.
“Today the Mexican air market has a wide and sufficient offer, flights at competitive and accessible prices, so there is no need to open the Mexican skies to foreign operators,” Volaris said.
In addition, he highlighted that, in the last 20 years, andhe air travel market in the country doubled and close to 40% of this growth is attributable to Volaris.
On 46% of the routes it operates, Volaris is the only airline offering this service, thus competing with bus transportation and its ultra-low-cost model opens the possibility of flying to millions of passengers.
Category 1 in aviation safety must be recovered: Aeroméxico
For its part, Aeroméxico considers that the bill being analyzed in the Chamber of Deputies should exclude the term cabotage, and would have to focus on the changes necessary for the Mexican aeronautical authority to recover Category 1 aviation security.
Aeroméxico also joins the position of Canaero, which this morning announced that the approval of the initiative that allows cabotage would imply the disappearance of sources of work, a decrease in tax collection, disconnection of destinations and would scare away local investment and foreign.
Therefore, it would cause a new airline industry crisis already vulnerable due to multiple factors such as the price of jet fuel, the lack of a State policy, the loss of Category 1 from the aeronautical authority, the lack of intelligent regulation, high taxes and charges.
