Activision Blizzard has been in the news lately due to its $69 billion acquisition by Microsoft, but Sony’s opposition to the sale has also been a prominent topic. Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has recently said that Sony’s opposition to the sale will not affect their long-term relationship.
Sony’s stance was described as “disappointing” by Kotick in an email sent to Activision employees on Tuesday. We remind you that the Japanese company recently claimed that Microsoft could release intentionally buggy versions of Call of Duty games on PlayStation consoles if it acquires Activision.

In response, Kotick said that passionate gamers would be the first to hold Microsoft accountable for delivering on its content and quality promises, and that they as a company would never release low-quality versions of their games.
“We know our passionate gamers will be the first to hold Microsoft accountable for keeping their promises of content parity and quality. And all of us who work hard to deliver the best games in our industry care too much about our players to release disappointing versions of our games,” Kotick explained.

Kotick assures that his relationship with PlayStation will not change
Later, Kotick made reference to the comment by Jim Ryan, president of Sony Interective Entertainment, in which he assured that his objective is to block the purchase of Activision Blizzard. According to Kotick, it is something that he considers “disappointing” due to the good relationship they have with PlayStation.
“Sony has even admitted that they’re not really worried about a Call of Duty deal, they just want to prevent our merger from happening – Obviously this is disappointing behavior from a partner of nearly thirty years, but we won’t let that happen.” Sony’s behavior affects our long-term relationship-
PlayStation gamers know that we will continue to deliver the best possible games on Sony platforms, as we have since the launch of PlayStation,” Kotick said.
