SuaraBandungBarat.id – The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) has announced the start of the month of Ramadan 1444 Hijriyah that March 23, 2023 is the first day of the holy month. The announcement was made after the isbat meeting was held.
The isbat meeting which was held at the HM Rasjidi Auditorium, Ministry of Religion, Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta on Wednesday (22/3/2023) started at around 18.40 WIB.
The Minister of Religion, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, announced the results of the isbat meeting in a press conference on Wednesday (22/3/2023) evening, “After discussions, Thursday, March 23 2023 has been decided by consensus as 1 Ramadan 1444 Hijriyah.”
The isbat meeting for determining the beginning of the month of Ramadan was held in accordance with MUI Fatwa No. 2 of 2004 concerning the Establishment of the Beginning of Ramadan, Shawwal and Zulhijah, which was divided into three stages.

Apart from the Minister of Religion Yaqut, the isbat meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid Saadi, Chair of Commission VIII DPR RI Ashabul Kahfi, and High Priest Istiqlal Nasaruddin Umar.
In addition, there were representatives from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), PBNU, PP Muhammadiyah, Islamic organizations, the National Aeronautics and Space Institute (LAPAN), and others.
