Suara.com – The Justice Society is known as DC comic’s oldest superhero gang. In the Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which is still showing in theaters, Justice Society has apparently recruited Shazam as a new member.
The Justice Society gang itself has started to attract attention since its appearance in the film Black Adam (2022) with members Hawkman, Atom Smasher, Doctor Fate, and Cyclone. That means, Shazam can be considered as the fifth member of the Justice Society.

Just debuted in the film Black Adam, Justice Society was actually first introduced through the comic “All-Star Comics 3” which was released in 1940.
Therefore, the Justice Society can be said to be the first superhero gang in the world of comics. The Justice Society, which was introduced 83 years ago, consists of Doctor Fate, The Specter, Atom Smasher, Houeman, Sandman, Flash, and Hawkman.
2. Not to Eradicate Crime

The mission of eradicating crime is not the original purpose of the Justice Society gang. In the first meeting of Green Lantern, The Flash, Doctor Fate, and Hawkman, they only eat together as a place to share stories. Their closeness gradually makes the will to protect each other appear.
3. First Female Member

In 1941, Wonder Woman joined as the first female superhero to join the Justice Society. Since first appearing in All-Star Comics #8, Wonder Woman has not been involved in fighting crime, but has served as secretary.

But the glory of the Justice Society in the past had faded in a short time. Around 1951, the public’s interest in superhero comics dropped dramatically so that the Justice Society story was discontinued which was then replaced by a detective story.
5. Comeback with the name Justice League

The Justice League was then introduced as a new version under the name Justice Society. Inspired by the United States sports league, the name Justice League began to gain attention after the introduction of superhero characters such as The Flash and Green Lantern.
6. The Justice Society is different from the Justice League

But in 1961, superheroes from different universes separated as members of the Justice Society and the Justice League. The Justice Society consists of Doctor Fate, Hawkman, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher plus Shazam.
