Call of Duty is a huge franchise that year after year delivers new titles that usually become the best sellers of the year. For this reason, it seemed strange to many that reliable sources assured that there would not be a new Call of Duty in 2023. However, it seems that this information turned out to be inaccurate, since new information indicates that there will be a new Call of Duty in 2023. .
In a new financial report, Activision announced that one of its plans for 2023 is to release “a full, premium annual release” of the Call of Duty franchise. So, everything indicates that by the end of this year we will have new content from the first-person shooter franchise.

“Across the Call of Duty franchise, our teams are working to amplify the success of the fourth quarter, with plans for 2023 that include even more compelling games-as-a-service across all platforms and the next full annual premium release of the hit series.” Activision mentioned in a statement.

What to expect from the next Call of Duty?
Now, what can we expect from the next Call of Duty? What you should know is that, until now, there is no more information about it or at least none that comes from an official source.
However, reliable media assure that, according to the Call of Duty development cycle, the 2023 installment should be the new installment from Treyarch Games, the studio best known for Call of Duty: Black Ops. That being said, it seems that this project will arrive later than expected and instead we will have new content developed by Sledgehammer Games (Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare).
Apparently, this new content will not be a completely new installment. Rather it will be a follow up to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and will serve as its second year of service. What is striking is that Activision describes it as a premium product, so it would cost $70 USD and it would not be a small DLC like Zombie Chronicles ($29.99 USD) or a free upgrade.

Perhaps this means that the next Call of Duty will be part of Modern Warfare 2, but offer robust content like its own multiplayer, new modes, and even a new story campaign. That being said, none of the above is confirmed, so we’ll have to wait to find out.
