For a couple of years, JK Rowling, writer of the original Harry Potter books, has been in the eye of the hurricane due to her statements against transgender people and the LGBTQIA+ community. While many fans believe that her reputation was damaged in the wake of the controversy, she cares little.
The British author launched a new podcast called The Witch Trials of JK Rowling, in which she is about to talk about the recent controversies surrounding her and other topics related to the magical world that she created in her book series. There, she spoke about the impact that her statements ―classified by many as transphobic― had on her legacy.
JK Rowling “doesn’t care” what they think of her
The podcast is hosted by activist Megan Phelps-Roper, who asked the novelist if she fears that the things she said about the LGBTQIA+ community and transgender people will affect the way she will be viewed for years to come. To the surprise of many, the author revealed that it is not an issue that worries her.
“It doesn’t matter, I’ll be dead. I don’t walk around my house and think about my legacy. It would be a very presumptuous way to live to walk around and think about: ‘what will my legacy be?’ I don’t care, I’ll be dead. I care about now; the living,” replied JK Rowling.
