The blue, affected in recent days, closes behind the two Swedes. Comola fourth, Wierer behind
Lisa Vittozzi hits the mark and wins the bronze medal in the individual 15 km of the Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof (Germany). Just a few days after the flu attack, the Italian finished third in the longest race, behind the Swedes Hanna Oeberg (gold in 43’36″1 and an error) and Linn Persson (10″3 behind with no mistake). For the blue, who reached the finish line 28″ late and made an error at the last polygon, today is the sixth world championship medal in her career, the second in the individual after the silver in Oestersund in 2019 when she finished behind Hanna Oeberg.
What Comola
—
Lisa, 28 years old, a Sappada color bearer of the Carabinieri Sports Center, also won four medals in the relay at the World Championships (silver with the mixed in Anterselva 2020 and Oberhof 2023, bronze in Kontiolahti 2015 and with the mixed in Oestersund 2019). Fourth, twenty seconds from the podium, the other blue Samuela Comola. Fifteenth at over three minutes Dorothea Wierer (4 errors).
From fever to the podium
—
“Saturday I was right under a train – says Vittozzi -, I never thought I’d recover so quickly, also because I had a fever of 38°. I’ve always believed I’d recover for this race, I tried to race intelligently because I knew I didn’t have infinite energy, it was intelligent conduct. On the last shot I ate my hands, I left victory by the wayside but this is biathlon, I accept it and enjoy this bronze because it’s important after these years of suffering. The last series was difficult because I knew I was fighting for gold, now we can have fun in the single medley relay”.
