Now that The Last of Us series is sweeping HBO Max, we can’t think of a better idea than playing a post-apocalyptic MMO. Yes, we know that The Division 2 is a great option, but watch out for the new hit coming from China… and promoted by the very same Will Smith.
It may not sound familiar to you, but Undawn is the new sensation in survival games. We already told you the first details a while ago, but now the title has gone up one more media step.
Developed by Lightspeed Studio, a team working for Tencent, Undawn is a perfect mix between The Last of Us and Minecraftwhich aims higher than the also similar The Day Before.

The tense moment of the slap between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars
For now, Undawn is a survival AAA that will come to PC and mobile devices, but only in China. If it is a success (everything points to it), surely one day it will make the leap to the West.
The most interesting thing on a visual level is that Will Smith, an actor in films like The Pursuit of Happiness, Men in Black or the iconic series The Prince of Bel-Air, is the spitting image of Undawn at the advertising level.
An apocalyptic MMO…starring Will Smith?
We’re still reeling from Will Smith’s Chris Rock slap in the face, and we’re not ready to see the actor immersed in a survival MMO. Although, to tell the truth, his experience in I am Legend (which will have a sequel) will come in handy.
Undawn is a multiplayer character building and survival gamewhich has been developed with Unreal Engine 4. The game will be released on PC and mobile, with cross-play.
Will Smith is the publicity image of the gameto the point that Undawn spots are going around the world, contributing to pre-registrations of the title through the Google Play Store and App Store.
Tencent is working with Will Smith for the marketing promotion of Undawn, its new open world survival game.

Currently Undawn has 70 million pre-registrationswhich ensures that a large community of players will accompany this MMO at its launch.

The idea is that Undawn will be available next month (date not specified) in China, and Tencent does not rule out launching it in the West if it is successful enough in its native country. Tencent recognizes that it is one of its most ambitious games for this 2023.
Does this Undawn promoted by Will Smith catch your attention? Without a doubt, his announcements are very striking, so we will have to keep track of this promising post-apocalyptic MMO, which we may see sooner rather than later in Europe and America.
