The star of Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, has revealed what the original plan was for his character and if he would return to the character
Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, suffered a lot of problems during production, its directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired and replaced by Ron Howard. The film also did not have the expected reception.
As a result, Disney shelved its planned spin-offs from A Star Wars Storyincluding movies with the likes of Obi-Wan Kenobi (who later received his own Disney+ series) and Yoda.
Every May, Star Wars fans celebrate the anniversary of the release of Han Solo: A Star Wars Story taking to Twitter and Instagram to demand that Lucasfilm #MakeSolo2Happen. Nothing has happened so far, with even plans for a Lando spin-off starring Donald Glover on Disney+ apparently sitting in the drawer since it was announced.
During a recent interview with Gizmodo to discuss Cocaine Bear, Han Solo actor Alden Ehrenreich reiterated his hopes to reprise the role he took on from Harrison Ford.
“If it was the right iteration and the right thing, I would love to (go back),” he says. “Because, for me, in the first movie you see him become Han. I was able to be Han Solo for the last 15 minutes of the movie, maybe. And being Han Solo is the fun part. And I have no f***ing idea if there’s ever a world where any of that happens, and if it does, great, if it doesn’t, whatever.”
“I think the original vibe of all of that stuff was almost more like an Indiana Jones idea where you could see this guy be that guy over the course of a few movies,” Ehrenreich said of the original plans for Han on screen. “Anyway, what I’m drawn to is that character and being able to do that.”
There are rumors about the announcement at Star Wars Celebration of short films starring Luke, Han and Leia, perhaps this is the opportunity to see the actor return to the character.
