Who’s Behind the Nordic Bomb Explosion that Destroyed Nord Stream 1 and 2? PHOTO/Reuters
JAKARTA – Explosion occurred in Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 on 26 September 2022, which the news website EurAsian Times termed the “Nordic bomb”. The explosion rendered three of the four pipelines inoperable. Various theories have been put forward as to who carried out the attack.
Neither the United States nor Russia denied responsibility for the explosion. However, recently there was a shocking report by the Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist, Seymour Hersh, who claimed the United States was behind the attack.

It’s no secret that the United States has long opposed the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline, which is majority owned by Russian gas company Gazprom. This natural gas pipeline supplies ready-to-use Russian natural gas to Europe, thereby reducing Russia’s dependence on United States energy.
Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Nord Stream’s flow of natural gas was repeatedly reduced until it was stopped. When the explosion was reported, the EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell pointed to veiled accusations against Russia. However, Russia categorically denied this. Russia says it has nothing to do with sabotage.
Hers claims the bombings of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 natural gas pipelines in September 2022 were carried out by the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) in a covert operation directed by the White House. The Joe Biden administration has denied the accusations, calling them completely fabricated and complete fiction. Meanwhile, Russia took it seriously and called it extraordinary.
The Hers report confirmed the alleged assault. Hers said that dive experts trained at the US Navy Diving and Salvage Center in Florida had planted the explosives. It was stated that divers had carried out covert and dangerous operations during BALTOPS 22, the military series in the Baltic Sea carried out by several NATO countries.

The explosives attached to the pipes are equipped with sensors that allow them to be detonated remotely at a later date. In his report, Hers assessed that the explosion was triggered by a sonar buoy dropped by an airplane.
The Nord Stream natural gas pipeline alone costs around $20 billion and takes a long time to build. It is known that the pipeline is an important part of Europe’s energy infrastructure. The United States claimed it carried out the attack in response to the Russian and Ukrainian invasions. In addition, it is also used to curb Europe’s dependence on natural gas from Russia.
Hers also said in his report, the US requested assistance from Norway in March 2022. Even CIA agents flew to Norway to discuss the operation with the Secret Service and the Norwegian Navy. As per reports, the Norwegian Navy also chose the place to be the target.
