MOSCOW – Ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine likely to continue for another three years, depending on the goals Moscow actually pursues within it.
That was the statement issued by the founder of the private military group Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin. The entrepreneur made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Semyon Pegov of the independent project WarGonzo on Friday.
“If we need to cover the DPR and LPR, then we need to work for at least another year and a half or two,” said Prigozhin, referring to the regions of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, which were recently incorporated into Russia.

“If Russia tries to head towards the Dnepr, the conflict will last longer and drag on for another three years,” Prigozhin continued, referring to a large river that divides Ukraine into two parts. .
At the same time, Prigozhin noted that in any conflict, the destruction of the enemy army should take priority over the desire to seize territory from the enemy.
Jokingly, Prigozhin also revealed that if Moscow were also trying to reach across Europe towards the English Channel, he already had the perfect plan in place for such an attempt.

To achieve that goal, everyone in Russia had to give up all leisure activities, put on “work clothes” and work tirelessly. However, some of the spoils of the campaign, including “France, Italy, Bulgaria and others”, had to be turned over to the Ukrainians later, as they would have “suffered here with us” more.
Founded in 2014, the Wagner Group has primarily operated as a security contractor in Africa and the Middle East until now. Exact details of its spread have not been made public, while Prigozhin denied any affiliation with the group and its existence until last year.
The group has been an active participant in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, scoring several victories against Ukrainian forces. The achievement also attracted widespread international attention, with the United States (US) last month declaring the Wagner Group a “transnational criminal organization.”
