BRUSSELS, 02 FEB – The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the creation of an international center for the prosecution of crimes in Ukraine based in The Hague during her press conference with Volodymyr Zelensky. The measure is foreseen in the draft conclusions of the EU-Ukraine summit to be held tomorrow, together with the president of the European Council Charles Michel. The draft states that the EU and Ukraine “support the development of an international center for the prosecution of the crime of aggression in Ukraine (International Center for the Prosecution of the crime of Aggression, ICPA) which will be based” in The Hague with the aim of coordinate investigations into the crime of aggression against Ukraine, preserve and retain evidence for future trials.” “This coordination center – we read – should be connected to the Joint Investigation Team supported by Eurojust”.
