You don’t immediately think about it, but the conversion of production sites to only produce electric vehicles causes tension for some employees. Volkswagen now wants to eliminate this so-called EV Anxiety among its employees. Including in its factory in Wolfsburg where the Golf, Tiguan and Seat Tarraco are currently rolling off the line. In time, more and more EVs will roll off the production line there. How Volkswagen wants to reassure its approximately 22,000 employees? With an escape room!
Escape during working hours
That may sound a bit crazy, but Volkswagen is not ready for its test piece. It has already used this tactic in its factories in Emden and Zwickau. The escape room was positively received there. As a result, Volkswagen is now taking its adventure to its home base in Wolfsburg. In detail, employees have to work in the eMotionRoom in groups of four (yes). That escape room consists of three rooms with different themes. They start in a room that explains the history of the electric car since 1800, the second room teaches employees more about the history of the factory in Wolfsburg, while the last room gives a glimpse into the electric future.
The entire escape room experience is part of an eMotion Day training that lasts one day. Free in an escape room during your working hours and maybe a free sandwich with VW sausage? We already understand the success of the training! If we put our jokes aside for a moment, Volkswagen also adds that it will certainly need until the end of 2024 for all 22,000 employees to participate in the training. By then, Wolfsburg will be jointly responsible for the production of the ID.3 facelift.
