sc Heerenveen defeated NAC Breda in the eighth finals of the KNVB Cup. The visitors from Friesland won 2-1 in Brabant. Sydney van Hooijdonk, born in Breda and former player of NAC, scored the goals for Heerenveen.
Heerenveen is number 8 in the Eredivisie, NAC Breda is in eleventh place in the Kitchen Champion Division.
Tom Boere gave the home team the lead after just over fifteen minutes. The striker scored in the rebound, after goalkeeper Xavier Mous had cleared the ball in the first instance.
In the extra time of the first half it became 1-1. Van Hooijdonk tapped in the ball after a cross from Rami Kaib. Shortly after the break, Van Hooijdonk scored again. Now he hit after an assist from Milan van Ewijk.
Jeffrey Bruma, who was injured last weekend at Heerenveen, was now back. Pelle van Amersfoort and keeper Andries Noppert were missing.
