Being almost certainly the biggest TV hit right now It must be said that the HBO Max series of The Last of Us is not leaving anyone indifferent, since the repercussion that it is having is perhaps not so close to that of Game of Thrones, but very on par with the House of Dragons (spin-off of the work of George RR Martin), which automatically makes it one of the most viewed series and one of the best video game adaptations ever made.
In fact, it is even being possible to see how the series is becoming media out of the small screen, such as the anecdotes that figures like Nick Offerman, actor of Bill, give us, who has explained the reason why he has not played the video game to prepare for the role of Bill. Be that as it may, if there is something that is not going unnoticed by those who played video games, it is the fact that the series is bringing changes with respect to the original material, with chapters 4 and 5 being the ones that have even modified the location of Pittsburgh to take us to Kansas City.
Henry’s main change is that he hasn’t killed anyone so far.
Given this, chapter 5 has not also had its good dose of observations from the fans, since, despite being quite applauded, especially for the last minutes it offered, has brought major changes to the gamestarting with the fact that Sam’s character is deaf (something logical if we take into account that his actor is also deaf), in the same way that changed an element of Henry’s plotsince instead of being a survivor who ends up in Pittsburgh by chance, it seems that in this case the character already lived there.
In any case, in the official podcast of The Last of Us, the showrunners of the series Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, have been commenting on some of changes made to the series from the original game in this fifth episode, showing us Henry who, far from helping us kill our human enemies, presents him as someone who has never killed.
This is something that Druckmann explains, gives more weight to the HBO Max version of the series, since in the game for mere gameplay it was necessary for Henry to help us. In the series, on the other hand, it can be seen as Joel and Henry are more differentthus creating the dependence that the two brothers have on Joel during this stretch of the story since they have seen him kill a group of people without regard.
The chapter of the tunnels of the video game has also changed
Joel and Sara star in the first part of the beginning of The Last of Us
Likewise, it can be seen how the series is combined the escape from Pittsburgh with the tunnelsso that instead of being on the outskirts of the city, this time they are the means they use to escape, this being something that will be of great importance in the face of the outcome when we see the consequences of opening the tunnels to the outside .
This is something that should not surprise us at this point, since it was something similar to what was seen in chapter 3 with Bill and Frank. In fact, the story of the Ish, the people who lived in the tunnels before they became infecteds, would not have as much impact in the series as in the video game, where we knew his story through diaries and notes. Of course, we are left without the Beware sign, infected inside that so much laughter has been able to provoke.
For the rest, it will be necessary to see how the series continues, being so that this could cause that the titles developed by Naughty Dog They had a commercial boom, so we would not be surprised if rumors about the release of The Last of Us Part II on PC returned to take advantage of this same success.
