Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is framed within Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters of the new DC Universe by James Gunn and Peter Safran
One of the surprises of the 10 projects presented by Gunn last Monday was the inclusion of a film from Supergirl. Those fans of the Arrowverso who were disappointed with the disappearance of the character can again have a ray of hope with the project of Safran and Gunn for their new DCU.
With ‘The Flash’ restarting almost the entire DC Universe, as those responsible for DC Studiosthe Adventures of Kara Danvers They will not be forgotten, since it has been included in chapter 1, and apparently we are going to have a unique version of the character so far.
As quoted by Variety, Kara’s film is based on the stories of the screenwriter Tom King, like Superman, which is being written by Gunn himself. But this new addition will be a somewhat more hardcore version, as the director of DC Studios points out. A character quite screwed by life.
James Gunn’s Supergirl will be a survivor with a traumatic past
This new film version will explore a much less innocent and adorable version, and we may be facing an almost total reformulation of the DC Comics character for this new DCU.
“Within our story, we have Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by incredibly loving and nurturing parents, while Kara was on Krypton, she was on a piece of Krypton that drifted away from the planet.”
“There he lived for the first 14 years of his life in a horrible situation where he saw everyone around him die. She so she is a much tougher and more fucked up Supergirl than what we were used to until now »
