The movie will feature two new and extremely powerful villains. However, both could arrive in any other project before and it was not like that. “We already answered that before, right? That the notion of everyday quality and the person that Scott Lang is has grown, he continually surprises himself and the world around him, facing off against someone who is almost unbeatable. And I also like, people see it in the trailer, that Scott can take a hit. You forget that the first thing that happens to Scott in this movie series is a prison fisticuff. With his IMA minions or with his sharp intellect, MODOK has constantly fought with The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, Captain America or the X-Men. Thus, it was a surprise just like the previous one that the study decided to make it debut against Ant-Man.
“For me, it was a personal emotion. I was a kid who spent much of my childhood alone in a room reading Marvel comics. And MODOK was always this crazy character. And he is grotesque. He is a giant head that has been turned into a mechanized organism designed only to kill. That was intriguing,” said the director. Peyton Reed about the arrival of the character.
“So, we started talking, is there a place in the UCM in the Antman movies, for a live-action version of MODOK? And what would that look like and how would we do it? And here is my colleague, Stephen Broussard, to follow up,” added the filmmaker at a press conference.
“Yeah. I mean, she’s a very strange character, to say the least. He’s kind of a big threat in our imagination of how and if we could pull it off. (laughter) You know, he always felt like a challenge, like, (laughter) going back years, here at Marvel. And we came up with an idea. And we believe that we had an idea that excited us,” said the producer for his part. Stephen Broussard.
Thus, the executive went on to mention that “And I don’t want to say too much here on this forum, but I think it was the right time to finally bring MODOK to the big screen.” With this, the intrigue of what awaits the nemesisbut it was anticipated that it will only be the beginning of his path in the UCM.
