The movie Avatar: The Sense of Water is the biggest sequel in movie history, but one actor was relieved when he didn’t get a part in it.
Avatar: The Sense of Water It has already grossed over $2.218 billion and is still in theaters, making it the third highest-grossing film of all time. So it’s a saga that any star of Hollywood would like to participate. But, Marc Maron (Glow, Joker) admits to being very relieved when he didn’t get the role in an interview with JH.
“That was ridiculous. Why the hell would I want that job? There’s an assumption that we’re going to make four Avatar movies. Dude, I don’t even remember the first one! I don’t know what all this means to the world. James Cameron built this city there in his Long Beach studio.”
“There are people doing stunts down there, people flying… It’s like Cirque du Soleil down there. Suddenly you’re in this area with people and you just have to read parts of Avatar: The Sense of Water, Flying, and Being on Dollies. I’m on camera, I think. I have an image of a ship or whatever it is… I’m in the middle of this and I’m totally untethered and I have no sense of character.”
“I have no idea what is going on other than there are several unidentified actors and stuntmen around me. Thank God I didn’t get the part. I don’t like being away from home. My agent said, “You’re probably going to go to New Zealand for four years, or whatever.”
“I thought, it’s not happening. Then James Cameron sent me a box of cigars because he didn’t cast me in Avatar: The Sense of Water. OK that is good. At this age, I have no problem saying no.” he concluded Marc Maron.

Marc Maron added for the role of Dr. Ian Garvin, the GDR marine biologist who was ultimately played by Jemaine Clement.
