New year and new traffic signals that we have located on our roads, and it is that the so-called low emission zones have just gained importance, which by law are already present in all municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants.
And the Signal R-120 is one of the new traffic signals which have been released in 2023, and which is related to this low emission zone and if we do not respect it we would be fined €200.
The R-120 sign warns drivers to prohibit access based on the environmental badge that their vehicles wear, something that is done based on environmental criteria, commented our autobild colleagues.
As a general rule, it is accompanied by a complementary panel called S-860, where it will be possible to find out what traffic conditions apply and exactly which vehicles are affected.
Each City Council has the last word
As it is each city council that delimits the level of restriction in these low emission zones, the labels ZERO, ECO and C could appear on said panel, but B could even be included in some municipalities according to this level of restriction.
The sign was announced last year with the aim of standardizing the warnings of these new low emission zones with this type of movement restrictions based on the environmental emblems, derived from the labels carried by the vehicles.
Thus, it is advisable to make sure that a sign which would have to be already placed at the gates of these low emission zones located by the municipalities and the DGT throughout the national territory for cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants.
